Jean-François is taking over the role of Eastern Ontario director. Having been involved with URISA Alberta chapter as Vice President South and a regular member of the URISA US association since the mid 1990s, he brings along his URISA experience to the group.
Jean-François Dionne is a Senior Geomatics Specialist presently working with WESA inc. who has a broad-based technical expertise in all areas of spatial technologies. With over 15 years of experience he has worked in various areas of the geospatial sciences, giving him a global perspective on the recent evolution and future direction of geomatics.
Jean-François has gained extensive GIS and data management experience in municipal and regional scale government sectors of engineering and land use planning, surveying and aerial capture programs, as well as through his involvement in many regional groundwater and surface water projects. Within these areas of expertise, Jean-François has successfully adapted geomatics tools to specific requirements and to better understand specific indicators in areas such as water budgets, conceptual model development and groundwater and surface water modeling and flows interaction. Jean-François has been closely involved with many data review and technology assessment projects using traditional mapping and new media such as the Internet, to enhance stakeholder consultation and facilitate access to project information.
