ESRI Announcements

ESRI Canada invites you to attend a one hour web seminar on the GeoTransit line of products on December 15th, 2009 at 9:00 am.

The GeoTransit product line has been in production at Movia, the Copenhagen transit agency, for 11 years. Initially built on older ESRI technology, it has been rebuilt on the new ArcGIS platform as a Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) product. We are anticipating the release of first GeoTransit module, GT Planner, in January 2010 and are excited to introduce you to this new product line.

GeoTransit is designed to accumulate critical business information in order for public transit agencies to better plan, schedule and manage their operations. As a comprehensive software solution which integrates key operational information into a centralised database, GeoTransit utilizes modern IT standards and architecture.  Built upon a robust data model, the components within GeoTransit are designed to seamlessly integrate information from your existing systems with spatial data maintenance tools. These tools give public transit agencies the ability to improve route planning, accessibility, service levels, schedules, driver and crew requirements and to make the information available to other systems such as customer information, journey planning, and real time display systems.

GT Planner, is the core of GeoTransit. It is a central GIS database and a set of editing tools for managing and planning physical infrastructure and routes. The GIS database is the central repository for the tools in all GeoTransit applications, including the Planner. The types of infrastructure data maintained by the management tools in Planner include stops, stop groups, transfer options and others. Route planning lets users edit the stop sequences for routes and the roads used between stops. This is all achieved in an ArcGIS environment.
