Knowing what technologies are coming, how to use them in an enterprise approach, and what strategies your counterparts in other organizations are adopting is crucial to keeping up with GIS products and services, and understanding how to effectively deploy spatial solutions. Be Spatial offers an opportunity to talk directly with your colleagues about their wins and pains, which in turn allows you to streamline your own implementation processes.
Understanding when, where and how to effectively utilize spatial solutions and tools, and learning from the successful examples of other organizations is an ideal way to develop and nurture your own skills and knowledge. Reading about a solution in an e-magazine only goes part way; talking to the colleague who implemented a solution allows you to ask the questions that will draw the complete the picture. Be Spatial gives you that access, allowing you to meet and discuss ideas with colleagues from across Ontario.
URISA-Ontario Chapter has issued a Call for Papers for Be Spatial'11. Presentation themes for Be Spatial'11 are designed to reflect current and future topics that are of interest to GIS Professionals. We encourage all members to submit presentation abstracts.
Presentation abstracts are invited within the following tracks:
Please note that:
Have you been amazed by a GIS project or website, from your own or another organization? If so you can now nominate yourself of another organization for one of the URISA-OC Best GIS Challenge Awards. The Best Public Sector GIS award is presented to organizations that have demonstrated the use of GIS in improving effectiveness and efficiency in enterprise GIS for public sector operations.
The Best Web GIS award is presented to organizations that have demonstrated advanced internet/intranet mapping services that enable publishing and sharing of geographic information through the integration of multiple business systems.
The Innovation in GIS award is presented to individuals or organizations who have newly demonstrated or refined innovation in GIS and geospatial technology through a specific piece of work or project.
